Ceili is proud to announce her master certification in the Usui System of Reiki Healing, the traditional Japanese method. I am currently accepting new clients. What will a typical reiki session look like at Dragonfly Reiki hibiki & Herbs?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that has grown in popularity as a holistic approach to promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, reduce physical and mental stress, and a great way to support your overall well-being. 


Setting the Scene


A typical Reiki session will take place in our Zen room designed to promote relaxation. The room has soft lighting, soothing music, crystals, spiritual tools and aromatherapy to create a calming atmosphere. 


Initial Consultation


Before the session begins, Ceili will have a brief consultation with you to discuss your needs and intentions. This is an opportunity for you to share any specific issues or areas of concern, such as physical pain, emotional stress, or spiritual questions. Ceili will then explain the Reiki process and answer any questions you have, helping to set the stage for a relaxing and effective session. I always suggest bringing a water bottle & journal to your session. 


The Reiki Session


You will be asked to lie down on a massage table while you are fully clothed. It’s important to wear loose, comfortable clothing to help you relax. Ceili will then begin the session, either placing their hands lightly on or just above specific points on your body. Ceili will always start at your head and slowly work around the circumference our your body. 


Reiki sessions usually last between 60 to 90 minutes allowing us time to chat before the session and time to debrief afterwards.  Here’s a general outline of what happens during a session:


  Initial Relaxation: We will start by smudging the both of us and our space. Then we will get you settled into a relaxed state, often with a few moments of deep breathing or a brief meditation. This helps prepare your mind and body to receive the Reiki energy.


      Hand Positions: Ceili will then move through a series of hand positions, usually starting at your head and moving down to your feet. Each hand position is held for several minutes, during which the practitioner channels energy into your body. You may feel warmth, tingling, or a gentle pulsing sensation where the hands are placed. In Japanese, these sensations are called Hibiki. Hence our name! 


Energy Flow: Throughout the session, you might experience various sensations as the energy flows through your body. Some people feel deeply relaxed, while others may feel a sense of lightness or emotional release. It’s also common to drift in and out of sleep during a session, which is perfectly normal. I have had clients see images, colors and visons as well during this time!


    Personalized Focus: If you mentioned specific areas of concern during the initial consultation, we might spend extra time focusing on those areas. They may also adjust the session based on what they sense in your energy field.


After the Session


After the session ends, Ceili will gently bring you back to full awareness. This will give you time to  bring your sense of awareness to the room and give you a few moments to sit and reorient yourself. Ceili  will then sit with you and provide feedback about what they sensed during the session and might offer suggestions for continued self-care. During this time I  will be able to share all the things I sensed, heard and saw while the energy was flowing. 


Post-Session


It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with Reiki is unique. Some people feel immediate benefits, such as a sense of peace and relaxation, while others might notice gradual improvements over several sessions. You might also experience mild detoxification symptoms, such as feeling tired or having a headache, which are generally temporary and part of the body’s natural healing process. I will always suggest drinking plenty of water, taking a bath, reflecting & getting plenty of rest after the session.
